CANeLearn Teacher Micro-Credential Program: Teaching and Learning in Online Learning Environments
The TLO Course is based on a four-week time frame to complete the course. However, there is no hard and fast time to complete the course, it depends on how much you want to put into it and what skill level you come to it with. The TLO Course is comprised of four modules, not including the introduction section and a course evaluation section.
There are twelve required activities to complete the course, including creation of your own online course project site. Scroll through the course homepage for course information, or review the detailed course outline and course materials on the homepage: http://canelearn.org/course/view.php?id=17 (login as guest).
It is estimated that the course can take about 30-35 hours. However, this estimate is based on completing and reviewing all parts of the course. The course is designed for you to apply your learning now, and then into the future. So how much time you spend doing this is up to you, and is also dependent on your skill set now.
The core activities in the course are to read/reflect and chat with me about perceptions and approaches to teaching online - by first learning online with me. There are also technical skills to begin to learn and start to master, but that is not going to happen overnight or by just spending a few hours on course activities. This teacher training is designed to be approximately 90% asynchronous and 10% synchronous (live meetings/discussion with the Course Facilitator). There is a $150 fee to be paid up front to register for the course and get the completion certificate.
